Q&A
Where are you based?
St. Augustine, Florida. Serving North East Florida and surrounding areas to include but not limited to Ponte Vedra, Jacksonville, Saint Johns, and Nocatee.
What's your photography style?
Natural light is my favorite! Those golden hours of the day during sunrise and sunset are by far the best for capturing beautifully lit images. I believe less is more. Your images should be focusing on the subject and too much business in an image can detract from the quality and focus of the picture. During newborn sessions I prefer to stick to simple backdrops, complimentary color schemes, neutrals and quality made newborn props. If clients would like to include something sentimental of their own in any of the pictures I ask that we limit those special items to one or two. My overall goal is to exude the love, energy, and beauty that you want to see in every photo. Capturing candid moments and creatively posed portraits will make for a beautiful and diverse selection of images. All photo sessions are not created equal. Sessions may be different based on weather, location/backdrop, time of day, wardrobe colors, etc. Your photo session is unique to all these circumstances and thus uniquely edited. What's most important to me is that you love the final product.
What services do you offer?
I specialize in Family, Newborn, Maternity, and Children. I also do small events, graduate/senior portraits, and Engagements. I'm happy to work with you on any of your requests that range outside of the services listed. Contact me to customize a session package. I am a legal registered LLC.
What do I get from my Investment?
All of my sessions are all inclusive. This means you will get more images than an average photographer would provide. There is not a limited number you allowed to take home with you or images you have to leave behind or pay for additionally. I am a very busy mom of four great kiddos and living in a fast paced, digital based world, this is the very best way to serve my clients efficiently. Every photo session starts with time spent with communications for inquiries and bookings and confirmations. The session time frame itself, then the following weeks there will be many hours of editing and finetuning your images, social media sneak peeks, and finalization of your gallery. This is followed by my clients preference on how they receive their images and any final communications needed to fully satisfy my clients. Sneak Peeks are generally available within the first week after your session and your full gallery within two to three weeks. There is a lot of time and care that goes into every session.
Newborn Sessions are much more time consuming and labor intensive both during the session and after in the editing process. After communicating, booking, confirming details and preferences, following up on due dates and birthdays, there is a concentrated amount of time spent prepping a studio for a newborn session. Planning sets, color schemes, themes, and workflow for the newborn session takes care and time. Time spent during a newborn session is typically 1.5-3 hours long followed by time to clean up, reorganize, and properly reset the studio. During the editing process additional touch up work on top of my typical editing is needed to perfect the details of a newborns skin and overall look of each image. I invest in newborn photography props that are quality made and specifically for the use, safety and fitting of a newborn baby photography session. Because newborn babies are so delicate, I have taken the precautions for additional education, workshops and safety certifications.
How fast will I get my pictures back?
Within one week I will post a sneak peek of your images in progress. It typically takes two to three weeks to produce a quality product and finished gallery. I respect my client's privacy so I will always ask if they are comfortable with posting sneak peeks to social media. However please keep in mind that as a photographer I get business by showing my work and advertising my images.
How do I receive my final product?
Each session will receive a USB or digital download link of their edited images. My current business model is simple, I provide the full digital edited gallery for my sessions. This is because I lead a very busy life of a mom of four wonderful children. I also believe we live in a very fast paced, digitally based world and this current business model of delivering all digitally edited images helps me serve my clients more efficiently. When life allows I will be switching to something closer to a Boutique style business model which will allow me to spend more time with my clients and their chosen quality products. Clients will be given the rights to print and these photos are theirs for personal use only. Should they want to show off their family, kids, event, etc to the world (I know I always do), a second set of pictures will be provided which include Holly Scott Photography's watermark on them for copyright purposes and public use. I use professional editing software but I do not Photoshop or make drastic changes to images. I'm happy to outsource client's images to a third party for an additional fee should they desire very specific changes that require those services.
